Alchemer Release Notes: November 2, 2026

Alchemer Product Release Notes

Release highlights

  • Control who can copy surveys: a new role permission lets people create surveys without being able to copy existing ones.
  • Manage large quota sets faster: reorder quotas with drag and drop, set Complete Actions for many quotas at once, and keep Complete Actions and quota-based logic when you copy. Quotas also move with a survey when you transfer it to another account.
  • Choose which URL variables a survey records: a new URL Variables screen under Tools, with limits on how many new URL variables one response can add.
  • Reporting improvements: pinned crosstab headers work in shared reports, Standard Reports show comments for more question types, and shared export emails use your private domain.
  • Webhook improvements: account webhooks send one call per event, and the On Response Processed webhook tells you whether response data changed.
  • Action required: survey copies made through the API follow team access and the new copy permission.

Action required

Check API integrations that copy surveys. Survey copies made through the API use the same rules as the app. The API user must have access to the source survey, and their role must allow copying in the destination team. Otherwise the request returns 403 Forbidden ("Your team does not have access to this survey.") and no copy is created. Before this release, API copies didn't check team access. If an integration copies surveys, confirm its API user is on the right teams and that their role allows copying.

Teams & permissions

New: Control who can copy surveys

Roles have a new Allow copy survey permission under Create and modify projects including Alchemer Workflow. Turn it off to let people create surveys without copying existing ones. It covers every way of copying: copying a survey or an archived survey, using a template, creating a quiz, copying through the API, and copying Question Library content. People without the permission don't see copy options.

Existing roles keep working as they did. Editor roles can copy, and Publisher, Reporter and Tester roles can't. Custom roles get the permission if they can already create and modify projects. Modify projects ONLY still blocks copying.

Quotas

New: Reorder quotas with drag and drop

On Tools > Quotas, drag logic and distributed logic quotas into the order you want, or select several and move them together. The order is saved for the survey, everyone who works on it sees the same order, and it is kept when you copy the survey with its quotas. Alphabetical sorting is still available. Clear the sort to return to your order. Ordering is display-only and never changes how quotas are evaluated.

New: Set Complete Actions for many quotas at once

Select quotas with the checkboxes in the quota list, or select them all, then apply one Complete Action configuration to every selected quota. Settings that differ across the selection are marked as mixed values, and you confirm before anything is applied. Applying replaces the Complete Actions on each selected quota and changes nothing else. You can also delete selected quotas in bulk.

New: Default Complete Actions for new quotas

Set a survey-level default Complete Action, such as a redirect, and every new logic or distributed logic quota starts with it. Existing quotas are not changed. Use Reset to system default to clear it.

New: Quotas transfer with your survey

When you transfer a survey to another account, its overall, logic and distributed logic quotas go with it, along with their logic, limits, order, Complete Actions and the survey's default Complete Actions. Quota counts are recalculated in the new account from the responses you transfer. If you don't transfer responses, the quotas arrive with their settings and start counting from zero. Before, quotas were not transferred.

Improved: Copied quotas keep their Complete Actions

When you copy a quota, or copy a survey with Copy Quotas selected, each quota keeps its Complete Actions. Before, copies reverted to the default. The survey copy window also has a new Copy Default Complete Actions option, which is off by default.

Fixed: Quota-based logic is kept when you copy a survey

When you copy a survey with Copy Quotas selected, page and question logic that depends on those quotas is kept in the copy. Before, those logic conditions were reset.

Reports & exports

Improved: Pinned crosstab headers in shared reports

Pin Banner and Pin Stub also work when a report is opened from its share link. Column and row headers stay visible as viewers scroll, including across stacked crosstabs. The report builder's setting controls this, and pinning never changes values, statistics or shading.

Fixed: Comments in Standard Reports for more question types

Comments on slider list, textbox list, numeric textbox, ranking grid and continuous sum questions appear in their comments reporting element. Before, these comments were missing. Comments on numeric textbox questions also no longer show an unneeded word cloud.

Fixed: Logo position in survey PDF downloads

When you download a survey as a PDF with Include logo (without the theme) selected, the logo follows the position set in your theme. Before, it was always placed on the left.

Fixed: Shared export emails use your private domain

On EU accounts with a private domain, links in emailed shared exports use your private domain's address. Before, the link could end in .eu instead of your domain's own ending.

Survey building & taking

New: Choose which URL variables a survey records

A new Tools > URL Variables screen lets you list the URL variables you expect a survey to receive. To ignore everything else, turn on Do not accept any URL variables that are not in this list. Variables on your list are always recorded.

Changed: Limits on URL variables per response

To keep reports and exports fast, each response records up to 100 new URL variable names. Names can be up to 50 characters and may use letters, numbers, underscores, periods and hyphens. Variables on your list, variables used by email campaign links, and variables Alchemer uses internally always count, and the internal ones don't use up the limit.

Improved: Allow .gpg files in File Upload questions

You can add gpg to a File Upload question's Allowable File Types. It is not added by default.

Fixed: Cascading dropdown menus load their options

Cascading dropdown menus load their options reliably. Before, a menu could sometimes show only "Please Select".

Fixed: Edit grid rows and columns that contain images

You can edit grid rows and columns that use an image in the header. Before, an "Option quotas are disabled for your account" banner appeared and blocked every setting for that row.

Fixed: Grid question merge codes no longer include HTML tags

Merge codes for grid questions return plain text in actions, piped text, and data sent to integrations. Before, they could include HTML tags after each row.

Fixed: Copy closed surveys that contain integration actions

You can copy a closed survey that contains an integration action. Before, the copy failed with an error and could not be opened.

Fixed: Survey folders show their surveys when another session is active

If you're signed in somewhere else, the Multiple Sessions warning appears on the survey dashboard. Before, folders could look empty with no warning until you opened the Workflow tab.

Email campaigns

Fixed: Delivered column in Delivery Statistics

When campaign emails bounce, the Delivery Statistics table shows the Delivered column with its header, and the Total row shows delivered messages with bounces counted against them. Before, the header was missing and the Total row showed an extra, unlabeled copy of the Completed value.

Webhooks

New: "Data changed" flag on the On Response Processed webhook

The account-level On Response Processed webhook includes a new response_data_changed field. It is true when the processing included a change to the response's data and false when it didn't, so you can skip updates where nothing changed.

For completed responses, the webhook is sent only when response data changed. Opening an edit link or a save-and-continue link without changing any answers no longer sends a call.

Fixed: Account webhooks send one call per event

The account-level On Survey Create, On Response Received and On Response Processed webhooks send one call per event. Before, one event could send two or three identical calls, and repeated clicks on Submit or a refreshed Thank You page could send more.
