Jira Authentication

Overview

The Alchemer Jira integration uses OAuth to authenticate. To connect, you provide your Jira site URL and then sign in to Jira and approve the requested scopes. There is nothing to build or configure on the Jira side beyond logging in and approving the connection.

Jira API Credentials

What You Need

  • Your Jira site URL (for example, https://your-company.atlassian.net)
  • Your Jira login credentials
  • Permission to approve the requested scopes for your Jira account

Authenticate Jira in Alchemer

The Jira integration authenticates using OAuth. Rather than entering an API key and secret, you provide your Jira site URL, sign in to Jira, and approve the requested scopes. Once created, the authentication is securely stored in Alchemer and can be reused across all Jira integration actions.

How to Authenticate

1. Start a New Authentication

  • Inside any Jira integration action, select New Authentication.

2. Enter Your Jira Site URL

  • Enter your Jira site URL (for example, https://your-company.atlassian.net).

3. Log In and Approve the Connection

  • A pop-out window will appear and redirect you to Jira. Sign in with your Jira credentials and approve the requested scopes.
    • Note: If the pop-out appears, then disappears, and the authentication is made, that means you were already logged in to Jira. There is no need to do anything else.

4. You're Good to Go

  • Once you approve the connection, your authentication is created.
    • The authentication is saved and reused for all Jira actions.
    • You only need to update it if you want to reconnect or use a different Jira account.
